LEXUS DESIGN AWARD finalists fix the future (hopefully)

These six finalists hoping to “design a better tomorrow” were among 1,726 entrants from 57 countries.

How do you design a better tomorrow? From that wide-ranging question, the promise of a mentorship, budget for prototypes, and more, Lexus received answers from every corner of the globe. The six finalist ideas are below, and final judging will take place this spring.

• Chitofoam by Charlotte Böhning & Mary Lempres (Dual USA - Germany and Dual USA - Norway / Based in USA)
  A biodegradable packaging solution derived from the exoskeletons of mealworms that have digested polystyrene foam waste.

• Hammock Wheelchair by Wondaleaf (Malaysia)
  A combination wheelchair, forklift and hammock for reducing the manual lifting of patients by caregivers.
