What’s a high mileage if you’re spending €1 million? Also: the Japanese salaryman’s coffin and a Slovakian microadster.
1997 Porsche 993 Turbo S, €999,999 • After sifting through the joke ads and placeholder data on more than a few used car sites, I came across this reportedly very well-maintained and highly original ex-U.S. delivery Porsche…with more than 114,000 kms on the odometer. Agree on the 993’s increasing valuation or not, it’s uncommon to see such a recent vehicle with both high mileage and a seven figure asking price. Mercedes-Benz 300SL models, vintage Ferraris, Prewar Alfa Romeos, sure. But an off-white 1997 Porsshhh? via mobile.de
⚠️ headphone users: warning for the intro. HILARIOUS. F-150, Goldilocks, only suspension, change wheels, look cool. Carry stuff. Cheap to run. Those are my notes from this video of Alexi—aka Noriyaro—as he introduces a spectacular new project car and explores what makes the Toyota Probox so crucial to Japan’s economy…and tuning culture. “The reinvention of the gentleman’s car. For a modern urban age.” Thanks to Nauman F. for reminding me about the Patak Motors Rodster, a lightweight, rear engined microcar (L7ea2 class) soon to be available in Europe. Available with either a small 450cc gasoline engine from a Yamaha quad or an electric motor & batteries, Rodster looks like a compelling attempt to build a desirable roadster for less than €20,000. I dig it. via patakmotors.com
